What is RSS?

It stands for "Really Simple Syndication." You use the orange RSS/XML buttons you see on your favorite websites to get all the latest Web pages, blog posts, news, other updates, etc.

You can have all your favorite parts of the web come to you. No need to go looking for updates. No need for bookmarks.

It's convenient. There's no spam. And it's super easy to subscribe or unsubscribe. If you no longer want to follow a feed, you just delete it. Simple.

RSS is the perfect tool for your busy life and once you start enjoying the benefits, I bet you'll be signing up to track all your favorite things this way. Enjoy!

How Do You Get Started?

It's easy!

First, download a free RSS Reader. This is special software that reads the "RSS feeds" from the sites you want to follow. (Skip down to the bottom if you don't want to download software.)

Windows RSS Reader --> www.rssreader.com/

Mac NetNewsWire --> www.newsgator.com/Individuals/NetNewsWire/

Once you're set up, here's all you have to do...

Right-click (control-click for Mac users) on any page of this site.

Select Copy Shortcut ("Copy Link to Clipboard" for Mac), and paste that URL into your RSS Reader.

Don't Want To Download New Software?

Some people prefer to view RSS feeds through their browsers. If you prefer that method, Google, Yahoo! and others have simple one-step solutions.

Click on the button of the one you want to use in the RSS box on the left side of any page on this site and follow their instructions to add the feed.

And that's it! You're subscribed.

How to Keep Up with all the Designs by Debi latest...

You can choose to visit the site and/or blogs and get updates yourself. You can use the RSS feed(s) and have everything conveniently brought to you. Or you may use a combination of options...

1. What's New Page

As you probably know, I started a 'What's New?' page on the site last year so you'd have a place to go to easily find all the Designs by Debi news.

If you decide to visit on your own for updates, this is one of the places you can look. You'll find the link at the top of the left navigation column.

2. RSS Feed for Site Updates

This option has been available on the site for a long time. Whenever I put up a new page or update an old one, I release it through RSS. If you're signed up for this feed, you'll always be the first to know when that happens.

To sign up for this feed, right-click on the orange RSS button on the left side of the page and copy-and-paste the URL of the RSS feed into your RSS reader. Or click on the Google, My Yahoo!, My MSN or Bloglines button and follow their instructions to add the feed.

You can also check this page manually by going to Site Updates (the link is in the right navigation column).

3. RSS Feed for My Blog

Now I've decided to add a traditional blog to the site as well. I want to be able to interact and share things with you...sometimes related to jewelry and sometimes not. This way when I stumble upon something I think you'd enjoy or find useful, I can share it with you. And you can share your thoughts, ideas and things with me, too. At least I hope you will :)

You can subscribe to that blog's feed the same way... you'll find its RSS link in the right column below the list of followers.

And to get to the blog on your own, go to My Blog (the link is near the top of the right navigation column).

4. You can also look for me on Facebook ("like" Designs by Debi), Twitter (although I'm just starting and don't Tweet often), Squidoo and Flickr.
